The 2011 ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship will be hosted by the Sailing Club Uskok in Zadar,Croatia.

The Republic of Croatia is a Mediterranean country, locted on the east coast of the Adriatic sea. Croatia is neighboured by Italy, Slovenia, Austrlia, Hungary, Serbia and Bosnia. The coastline stetches for 5740km with 1185 islands, islets and rocks. The population of Croatia is 4.8 million, the capital is Zagreb and the currency is the Kuna.

Zadar

Zadar and the tourist region of Zadar are located in the very centre of the Croatian Adriatic, in the most indented part of the Adriatic archipelago. Close to Zadar are the national partks Plitvice lakes, Paklenica mountain, Krka waterfalls and Kornati islands, nature parks Velebit and Telascica, as well as mroe than 300 islands and islets. Natural beauties, numerious coves and beatches, cultural and historical monuments, restaurants and hotels make Zadar and its surroundings one of the most attractive tourist regions in Croatia.

The historical part of Zadar is fascinating to all those who respect historical monuments and cultural heritage. The church of St Donat, the symbol of the city, is a must see, as well as the museums of Zadar: the Archaeological Museum (established in 1830), on the most important in Croatia with 80,000 exhibits from the Stone Age to the late Middle Ages, the National Museum with the Art Gallery and the Department of Natural Sciences, the Maritime Museum with exhibits of the development of navigation of northern Dalmatia, as well as the Permanent Exhibition of Sacral Art with about a thousand valuable exhibits from the past centuries, known under the popular name The Gold and Silver of Zadar.

Zadar is famous for its favourable sailing conditions in the channel, and therefore the city is an important nautical and sports centre. The location on the low littoral greatly contributes to the climage. an average air temperature in July is 25ºC and 6.5ºC in January; with 200 sunny days a year.

The Sailing Club Uskok

The Sailing Club Uskok is situated in the west part of the town, in a tourist area, 5 minutes walking distance from hotels. The club is more than 50 years old. In receent years, SC Uskok has hosted six major events; 1999 470 European Championships, 2004 420 European Championships, 2004 470 World Championships, 2008 420 and 470 Junior European Championships and the 2009 49er European Championships. In 2012 the club will host the 49er World Championships.
